HOLIDAY SEASON LIGHTS UP AT LLOYD CENTER
Many Portlanders know that when November comes, the city slowly transforms into a winter wonderland. Peacock Lane gets busy, the zoo lights up and giant trees pop-up all-over town. One of the most notable trees in Portland is Lloyd Center’s holiday tree.
For six years, Lloyd Center mall has installed a 75-foot Christmas tree in the middle of its ice rink. It’s a marker of the start of the holiday season and increased holiday shopping. And on November 19, the 2022 tree officially lit up for the season.
To get this massive tree on the ice, it takes three days and a team of six people to assemble. Once complete, viewers get to admire more than 2,500 ornaments and a 4-foot-tall star. The tree’s unique position offers skaters a fun 360-degree view and lots of fun photo opportunities.
“Seeing the tree go up along with all the other holiday décor is one of my favorite times of the year at Lloyd Center,” said Marketing Director, Ann Grimmer. “People come from all over the area to skate around the tree – it’s a really fun tradition.”
This year, shoppers not only get to skate around the tree, but also have opportunities to skate with the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who. Check out the tree and all the fun holiday events at lloydcenter.com.
